Retirement of Kanoka Kaposhi
On Tuesday July 1st a farewell function was held for Kanoka Kaposhi, the longest serving staff member at Chitokoloki Mission Hospital. Kanoka has served with great integrity, dedication and commitment in several areas of the hospital for many years. At one time he was the assistant in Theater and has had many roles since he started working at hospital in 1983. Even though he has retired we have asked him to continue to help in various functions and we do wish him God’s richest blessings for his retirement years. His retirement speech is below.
“Good Morning Colleagues,
I wish to take this opportunity to recognize the presence of you all.
First, let me just say how deeply grateful I am for this moment, to stand here surrounded by people who have been part of my journey, both personal and professionally.
When I first walked through the gates of Chitokoloki Mission Hospital in 1982, I was much younger, full of anticipation, and maybe a little nervous. I never imagined that over 40 years later, I would still be here, not because I had to stay, but because this place became more than just where I worked, įt
became a second home. and all of you became family.
Working in a missionary hospital has been a calling more than a career. It has challenged me. shaped me, and allowed me to serve in ways that have been profoundly meaningful. We have seen joy and sorrow, welcomed life and said goodbye to it. We have prayed together, worked long hours together, and
leaned on each other though countless challenges.
There were difficult days, yes, days that tested my strength and faith, but those were the days that reminded me why this work matters. And I was never alone, you were always there with your support, your teamwork and your unwavering compassion.
To the doctors, nurses, maintenance staff and every team member I have served with; thank you. You have taught me more than any book or training ever could, you have shown me kindness, patience, and professionalism, and you have helped me grow - not just as a worker, but as a human being.
To the leadership of Mr. Gordon Hanna and the mission at large, that guides this hospital - thank you for giving me a place to serve with purpose. with faith, and with love. I am honoured to have been part of the Mission for so long.
Allow me to also take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness from anyone whom I have wronged in one way or the other. please may you find a place in your heart to forgive me. Now, as I prepare to step into retirement, I carry with me countless memories, life lessons, and a heart full of gratitude.
I look forward to rest, time with loved ones, and maybe finally doing those things I have always put off. But I will miss this place-and I will miss all
of you. This may be the end of my working days here, but the relationships we have built, the moments we have shared and the Mission we served together, those stay with me forever.
Thank you all, and may the good Lord bless each of you and this hospital in the years to come if the Lord tarries to takeHis own to glory.”
